Pinnacle releases Liquid Software Version 4.1
It's here. I don't know about you but I'm a big fan of User Forums. Pinnacle has one under http://www.pinnaclesys.com/. Click on professional editing, (I'd give you the link but I screwed one up in the last newsletter and I'm a reticent to send the long locations). Find out what folks love and hate about the purple, silver, and blue editing products and let us know if you're interested in a demonstration of this fantastic software.

NEW PRICING POLICY

Life is uncertain and lawyers are everywhere, therefore, prices are subject to change without notice
Once upon a time our suppliers changed their prices on an annual basis. When we only had about fifty suppliers keeping track of pricing really wasn't that big a deal. Today, with hundreds of suppliers, many changing their prices on a monthly basis, it can be a challenge. Maybe it's the fact that personal computers have made it easier than ever for the manufacturers to make changes in their prices. Maybe it actually has something to do with the global economy. I can't say. Due to the fluctuations in our cost we have been forced to add that old phrase "Prices are subject to change without notice" to our quotations

FROM THE BENCH

We are often asked to have a look at an older piece of equipment and help assess whether the old tape machine, camcorder, monitor, whatever, is worth repairing. We're happy to do so. We can often determine the condition of the machine and provide an estimate to repair the product free of charge an a couple of minutes. There are, however, times when it can take hours to dismantle a device in order to replace an $8.00 part or track an intermittent problem. Often this is the time you first start to think about replacement. As a rule of thumb we suggest that audio and video equipment should be amortized over a five year period. Computer based equipment should probably be depreciated over a two year period. Some items like loudspeakers in a ceiling and some pieces of electronics like amplifiers, equalizers and CCTV cameras can be depreciated over a ten year period. These are rough numbers. Each situation is different. Give me a call if you want to know more

FEEDBACK

Evolution Not Revolution

We really do care about how we are perceived by our clients and customers. Most of you have been with us since the start of this little journal almost two years ago. We thank you for sticking with us, giving us your time, and especially for all of the feedback we've received. The good part is that every time you've been critical it has helped to make a better, more informative newsletter for all of you. Let me know what you think or our new format. Thanks!

TIPS N' TRICKS (One For Everybody)

STOP Those Twisted Cables and Cords!
I was in this business for about twelve years before Larry Taylor taught me this one. It's easier to show someone so if this is confusing I can come and visit most of you. Once you get it you'll never go back to the old way of coiling electrical cords, hoses, mic cables, coax, rope. string, anything. The idea is to create a figure eight with the object you're coiling in your hands. I hold the first loop, dangling in my left hand, with my thumb away from my body, and add cable clockwise. every other loop I rotate my right wrist 180 degrees and I  lay the loop of cable into my left hand backwards. This is also easy to do on one of those wall mounted garden hose holders. Ever wonder how a cowboy can throw his rope so far? Now you know. Thanks L.T.

ONE MORE TIME!

Ever Send Out a Bad Link?
I have. The broken link I sent out in the last newsletter should have been http:pro.jvc.com/pro/vnet/site/live/index.html
Sorry for the confusion..
